Walden, Colorado

Situated in North Park, Colorado near the border of Wyoming, Walden is the “Moose Viewing Capital of Colorado.” There are a lot of fun outdoor things to do in this remote town, including camping, fishing, hunting, and wildlife viewing. It’s a small town isolated about two hours west of Fort Collins on Highway 14 with just over 500 residents. There are several places to eat and shop on the quaint, historic Main Street. Walden is located on a high glacial plain known as North Park within Jackson County, at an elevation of 8,100 feet. It’s an ideal destination for recreational travel and is becoming a more popular place for new residents of retirees, families, and newly-wed couples. It is also a place that maintains a lot of old Americana roots, and the ruggedness is a part of its charm. You’ll see cattlemen, cowgirls, farmers, rangers, and loggers all over town.

The Church Plant

Walden once had a Southern Baptist Church which closed its doors a few years ago, leaving only two churches still in existence in the town. The Colorado Baptist Convention now has the ownership of the building and the High-County Hub cares for the property until we find a church planter or replanter to start a new gospel work in the facilities. Walden, as a small town, will respond well to a planter who wants to make this small, rustic town their long-term, permanent home and is excited and ready to invest in the people and the community.

I'm interested in bringing a ministry or mission team to serve in Walden.

I'm interested in being a part of planting the church as the Lead Planter or core team.

I want to hear more about other ministries, towns, and opportunities in the high country.
